How to design a fire alarm system for commercial and industrial for long life- Some great tips

Fire alarm system have most important role in commercial and industrial safety. In this chapter we will know that how we can design a perfect fire alarm system as per field criteria and required occupancies. In the fire alarm system design most important is understand the field situations. Although in general, engineers ignore those little enlightenment that have most important role in a properly system design. I will insinuation some of those points.

1. First is area temperature.
2. Dust level in area environment.
3. Roof Type.
4. Chose right detector for different areas.

Temperature

 

Area ambient temperature performs most important role when we chose fire detectors. If you do not care for this you are increasing the percentage of system failure. So it’s i am saying because every fire alarm electronics device properly described working temperature guideline. If we ignore those guidelines and exceed temperature limit, without any fire, detector can be drop fire signal. So reduce false alarm signals to take care area temperature.

Dust level

You should take attention for dust level in area. Some of the areas have very high dust level, dust can defect your detector and your detector can not be able to sense heat/smoke due to blockage. Like factory areas where metallic, cotton dust in textile industries or other type’s minuscule are in air we cannot use any detector those take on data from air amalgamation. In this types areas we use IP grade beam detector, flame detector and/or other type detector that does not contact directly with air. 

Roof Type

You can see many types of roofs in commercial and industrial areas like RCC roof, metal roof, shed roof and etc. Every roof makes a different type environment under it. Under the shed and metal roof temperature can be exceed detector working situations in summer session. So we cannot install normal detectors in these areas. In high temperature areas install probe type heat detectors, aspiration system and other special fire alarm detector.

Chose right detector for different areas

In order to choose right detector for specific area, you would notice the entire fire alarm occupancies criterion like temperature, roof type, dust level, interruption and what is keep inside the area. I will say you should read carefully the fire alarm standards that provided by your country and/or international standard.
